Dylan's Ultra Distance Bike Planting

Dylan's Ultra Distance Bike Planting

A STRANGE REQUEST

At the beginning of 2024 Dylan contacted us with a request. He wanted to complete the Pan Celtic Race which is a 2000km race starting on the Isle of Man and heading up the West coast of Scotland. It's a tough endurance race that sees competitors ride for several days through some of the wildest weather and terrain the UK has to offer. As if that's not enough of a challenge he'd decided to self impose the task of carrying enough tree saplings to plant one every 20km (thats 100 trees), with the vision of creating a living breadcrumb behind him.

For this, he decided, a cargo bike was needed. We know a little bit about cargo bikes so we agreed to help by providing him with a build that would carry him (and his trees) along the route.

ENTER THE OMNIUM

Recently we've been working on refining an Omnium Cargo into the ultimate lightweight adventure machine. It is outfitted with 46mm deep section carbon rims (28h RR, 24h FR) laced to a SP dynamo hub to power front and rear lights. Set up tubeless of course. There's also our 80mm suspension kit fitted, which improves ride comfort and offroad abilities.

We met up with Dylan in Wales, where SENTIENT HQ is, to go out and test the bike with him to see if it fulfilled his requirements, which it did. So we also filmed a little video as a proof of concept, that would serve as a trailer for his upcoming effort.

If you'd like to see that video you can do so by clicking or tapping right HERE.

Stay tuned for an update on Dylan's race, which will be coming soon. Thanks for reading!
